About Us

To Produce Recycled Aluminium Billet

PT Indonesia Aluminium Alloy ("PT IAA"), established on May 22, 2020, is a company operating in the midstream sector of the aluminum industry. As a subsidiary of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium ("PT INALUM"), PT IAA will gradually produce Recycled Aluminum Billets with a casting capacity of 30,000 tons per year in the future.

The establishment of PT IAA is one of the strategies of PT INALUM in increasing production capacity through the Kuala Tanjung smelter construction project, in line with the mandate of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 3 of 2016 regarding the Acceleration of National Strategic Project Implementation. Additionally, in accordance with the mandate from the Shareholders to PT Mineral Industri Indonesia (Persero) ("PT MII (Persero)") or known as MIND ID, PT INALUM through PT IAA is also required to carry out product downstreaming programs to increase revenue and EBITDA. The establishment of PT IAA was marked by the acquisition by PT INALUM of the assets of PT Asahan Aluminium Alloys (PT AAA) on October 9, 2019.

In efforts to fulfill the Shareholders' mandate and the objectives of the Company's establishment, PT IAA aims to achieve full operation of its Recycled Aluminum Billet production facilities by 2023, targeting both domestic and global markets. A series of asset revamping works has been carried out to enable the production of Recycled Aluminum Billets.

Remelting Aluminium Recycle

PT Indonesia Aluminium Alloy operates in the aluminum recycling industry, specifically in the remelting of recycled aluminum to produce Recycled Aluminum Billets.

Backgrounds that serve as the basis for choosing the business strategy of remelting aluminum recycle include:

The energy required to produce recycled aluminum (remelt) is very low, accounting for only about 5% compared to the energy required to produce primary aluminum using electrolysis systems.

  1. In accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 3 of 2016 regarding the development of aluminum smelters in the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Zone, PT INALUM was prompted to move into downstream sectors.
  2. In line with the mandate from PT Mineral Industri Indonesia (Persero) ("PT MII (Persero)") for PT INALUM to carry out downstream processing, this also serves as one of PT INALUM's strategies to increase production capacity by operating PT IAA with a printing capacity of 30,000 tons per year gradually.
  3. The Recycled Aluminum Billet market collectively holds approximately 50% of the aluminum market in Indonesia, making it an attractive opportunity for producing Recycled Aluminum Billets.
  4. The reasons PT IAA chose to produce Recycled Aluminum Billets are as follows:
    • The energy required to produce Recycled Aluminum Billets is very low, approximately 5%, compared to the energy required to produce primary aluminum using electrolysis systems.
    • The emissions generated in the remelting process are lower. remelt lebih rendah.
    • The advantage of aluminum lies in its unlimited recycling cycle. recycle aluminium tidak terbatas.
    • The use of aluminum products in the automotive and construction industries has a lifecycle of its own, so at the end of its lifecycle, it will generate waste/scrap aluminum. lifecycle-nya sehingga pada saat akhir lifecycle-nya akan menghasilkan limbah/Skrap Aluminium.

The Company's business plan and the scrap raw material requirements needed to support the production of Recycled Aluminum Billets with a capacity of 16 thousand tons per year gradually.

PT IAA's business plan is divided into 3 (three) stages:

  1. First Stage (Penetration) PT IAA will produce Recycled Aluminum Billets (6-inch size) with a maximum composition of raw materials consisting of at least 70% Scrap Aluminum and 30% Molten Aluminum.
  2. Second Phase (strengthening) will add production variants that initially only produce Billets. ukuran 6 inci, menjadi 5 inci, 4,5 inci, dan 4 inci.
  3. Third Phase (Developing) will produce aluminum with more optimal economic added value.
